New Blog

Hi guys! I am moving my blog to this new URL so hope you will join me here. It has been a crazy week. On Monday, I knew the temps were gonna drop so I wanted to put the blanket back on my horse. I had gone to do some shopping and did not get back till dark. Todd was at school, so I got the blanket, went down to the pasture and attempted to throw it over her back. She was a little scared and unsure cause she could not see what I was doing. I was talking her through it, and had the blanket on her back and was starting to strap it when Wade came up on us with a flashlight. That spooked her and she startled and then started to run off. Well....I had done something stupid and went down with only flip flops on my feet. I knew better...you should never be around a horse with anything but boots or some kind of shoe to protect your feet, but I was in a hurry. It was cold and I just wanted to do it and get back in the house. When she ran, she stepped on my right foot. OUCH did it hurt. I fell backwards with the pain. I could not walk on it, and Wade had to help me back to the house. Once i got in, the top of my foot had swelled and turned blue but was numb. I thought it was probably just bruised. I called my mom, who is a nurse and texted her a picture and she came over and brought me some things to help. She wanted me to go to the ER, but i said i would wait. I did not sleep well and so decided I would get it Xrayed on Tuesday morning. Turns out, I did have a stress fracture. So, this week has been challenging hobbling around, and it really swells, especially at night. I have tried to stay off it, but with 4 kids that is not easily attainable. Here is what it looked like last night..day 4 Keep in mind, my foot is usually not this fat! lol

The worse part is that I had just signed up last Saturday with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training to do a marathon in June, and had started my training on Monday. I was so proud that I had done 4 miles that day, and was planning to get in 20 all together this week. Training has come to a halt. I sure hope I am healed and ready to get back on board with that in a few weeks, but in the mean time, I am focusing on the fundraising part, so PLEASE check out check out my marathon fundraising page http://pages.teamintraining.org/sc/rnr10/sbrooksp6w and donate what you can! You will see why I am doing this and what inspired me on there as well!
The weather man says snow for tonight, so we will see! It would be nice to have some, as long as it does not stick around and keep us house bound more than the weekend. I hate being stuck inside! Have a great weekend everyone!
